Wherein the Pot calls the Kettle Green

I'm positively obsessed with chartreuse. It's nearly an illness. I should join a chromaholics anonymous, where I'll stand up in a church basement and utter the words "Hi, my name is Umber and I'm a chromaholic with a special penchant for greens of all shades. And turquoise. And burnt orange since we're on the subject. It's been less than three seconds since my last color swoon and more than five weeks since I wore black." And everyone else will respond "Hello Umber" and say kind things while they squeeze the fushia handkerchief hidden deep in their pocket.

Actually that sounds truly awful. Scratch that idea. I'm going to wallow in my chromophillia till the end of my days. Black and White be damned!

Apparently it's a day for strong opinions. Somedays are just like that.

It's also a day for a pot of soup.

Bottoms up me chickadees!

Your kitchen walls match mine! It's always funny to see the look on people's faces when they walk in the first time. Now I have to find a soup pot like that to replace my boring silver one....

That pot is the pot to beat all pots... creamy green enamel and a full 12 quarts huge.

It's my new favorite.

It's going to see an ungodly amount of canning action this summer.

Before I comment on your post, I have to let out a quick laugh at mme.bookling! I think I had the same thought crossing my mind when I saw the cilantro! You really are hungry for soup and thankfully it is so good for you!

I love black and white and orange and red and blue. I love yellow but it does not like me, and I am not sure what chartreuse is but it sounds too complicated. I think you should remain a chromaholic; however, when you are trying to negotiate big contracts, go for light blue.

yellow can be a real priss.

and you MLJ are a clever goof. Chartreuse is that delicious lemon-limeish color, like brand new leaves on a redwood or the inside of a New Zealand kiwi.

also, I agree, crowds and contracts are so easily swayed with a bit of fancy foot work and a big pop of pale blue.

I am with you then...I love chartreuse...from now on, I am saying chartreuse...teach me a few other fancy colors : )

My name Thee Good Girl & I'm addicted to yellow :)

My kitchen is jealous of your kitchen so much so that it need to go ask forgiven for it's adulterous envy!

I like to say "chartreuse" over and over again, like a mantra....it makes me feel snarky!

MLJ - your homework for the weekend is to find a swatch of Vermillion (that saturated orangish-red shade) and one of Cerulean (a deep but bright green-tinged blue). Plus Umber of course, from which my name comes.

GGS - Maybe your kitchen needs a sunny little present to ease it's envy? Plus, don't know if I've told you this yet, but your new mini pic if super cute.

Snailentina, Cat - My chromophellia loves your support!

Kerin - I can picture you chanting "Chartreuse" while snapping a finger and giving a sassy little sway.

I don't think there's any problem with colour swooning every few minutes. Appreciating colour, in my opinion, doesn't happen enough! Also, green, in all its wonderful shades, is brilliant and so very swoon worthy :)

I am so very in love with chartreuse as well! My kitchen gadgets and such are that delightful shade & it's spreading throughout the house!

Okay I know I'm late responding to this blog post, but I think the weirdest color name ever is PUCE. It just kind of makes your lips snarl up when you say it. It's a very dramatic color; darkish red, kind of goth. You hardly ever hear about it because people are probably embarrassed to say it out loud.

Now, if you want a good chuckle, go to the following website->
http://www.merriamwebster.com/dictionary/puce
and click on the "hear the pronunciation" button (over and over...teehee...)

Oh, Umber, BTW, where on earth did you find such a bigass pot like that?? Your stars must be all lined up just so for that kind of luck. I'm so jealous!

I am surely disappointed in all these comments not one thing has been said about that bold neck collar you are wearing. So sad.

Mum said...

You are so right BC. That is one gorgeous bigass bold neck collar.

And...I'm thinking it would make a pretty great cozy to keep that bigass pot of soup hot at the table.

BC said...

Collar = pot cozy. Brilliant.

You and I were cut from the very same color-addicted cloth! Greens of all shades (particularly those coming closest to avocado) are my very favs with rusty orange and deep dark red following closely. My main floor walls are still a sad, drab white but hopefully within a few weeks they'll be sporting the perfect shade of verde, at which point all will be well with the world.
PS your neckwarmer/shawl is FABULOUS!!!

And your soup looks amazing. I want to eat it.
