When I Say Fern...

fern

... I mean FERN!
All things green and dripping and curling and reaching ever upward.

(and I swoon)

My parents are in town for the week.  Well, to be honest they are in forest.  Camping, not 15 minutes from my home in one of the loveliest areas the North Coast offers.  I don't mean to boast, but really now, but this territory I reside in is so amazing, with so much to offer that I feel luck rising in my soul every time I venture out of doors.
After a solid night of sleep in my own bed and a hearty breakfast (BC is fattening me up on the good weeks - he gives me a wink and adds a little extra butter on my english muffins) I'm heading back out to the woods and water to stay with them and let my soul be filled with all that the ravens see and the black bears smell.

More to come, more to come, but first I need to get my shoes a little muddy and my pockets full of detritus.

That's just fantastic.

My husband is more than a little obsessed with ferns himself, and as such I think we'll be in your neck of the (red)woods next weekend-- Eureka, to be exact. Any tips from a local? ;)

Atta girl! My friend is hanging in and doing the same...finding the woods to soothe her soul on her good weeks and fattening up on some extra treats here and there.

"Keep close to Nature's heart... and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean". ~ John Muir

Love the colors on those photos. We're thinking of you often. Olive said she wants to visit you guys. CA is her favorite state.

Have a wonderful time! Your corner of the world sounds amazing.

Ferns are my favorite woodland plant. I just love the way the sweet ferns make the forest smell in the summer. So heavenly!

Amazing pictures. Well done, Pierre. Well done, indeed.

Being the good little southern girl that I am, I can attest to the benefits of extra butter. Extra butter is a blessing. Particularly the honey variety.

If I hadn't been standing next to you, witnessing the exquisite colors and dramatic lines of those ferns, I would have thought Pierre's work had been "doctored."

However...your beautiful photos brought tears to my eyes as I recalled the magic of the forest in that late afternoon.

Let's meet there again soon, okay?
