A Bit Like She-Ra

A few days ago this mug arrived via post, straight from 1986.  It's nostalgic like wearing silver moon boots with your pink ballet tutu.  It makes me feel a little bit like She-Ra, my ultimate childhood hero, and of Rainbow Bright (I'm reminded of the day I lost her fuzzy little rainbow friend at the laundry mat - this was one of those traumatic 5 year old tragedies that haunted me for years).  All I really wanted back then was a white unicorn with a multi-colored mane.  And maybe to find out that I was actually a princess, but if not, meh.  Truly I wanted to be a warrior more.
So tell me, because now I'm curious: IF you were there, what was your best memory of the 80's?

By the power of Grayskull,
~ Umber ~

Ah!
And p.s...
I've just placed a handful of Traveler Earrings in the shop for your flirty lobes!
p.s.s.
I just realized this was my 500th bloggity blog post!
And of all the deep things, artsy things, things of beauty and life, I hit this mini monument talking about She-Ra.  So freaking awesome.

She-Ra was just a smidge before my time. I recall Troll dolls and scholastic book orders and the original Power Rangers. *high-kick!*
Love the earrings. :)

80s memories...watching He-Man at my Grandma's (Orko was my favorite) and my Mr T Big Wheels! Hmm...I see a trend of being a tomboy.

OH! And who can forget Lite Bright?

Your name isn't She-rah but you ARE a princess of quite alot! All I remember in the 80's was following Van Halen around. I didn't wear moon boots but I bet I wore some sort of go-go- boots.
And, lemme ask you- are those colorful tats on your left arm? are they of animals? from what I see, I DIG IT!!!!!!

besides wearing high waisted, too tight jordache jeans with rainbow suspenders? (no, that was really 1979).....hold on it's all coming back now....it's more than one memory.... playing pac man, watching MTV until "Lucky Star" would come on so I could bust a move with Madonna, melting off the couch July 13th, 1985 with my first bout of full-on lust when Bono (complete with mullet during LIVE AID singing 'Bad') brought some girls out of the audience to hug them....wailing Kate Bush songs on summer nights with my girlfriends, going to Athens, GA a lot to try and get a glimpse of Michael Stipe (what i would have done had i saw him remains a mystery), and, of course, wearing fishnets with fluorescent pink and green ankle socks...special fashion risks abounded...wish i had pics to show you!

Happy 500th! Some of my fondest memories are riding my imaginary horse, Monty Python style, through the woods near the rock quarry. Or tying ropes around huge tree limbs and Tarzan-ing our way over the creek.

I love you so much for this post, She-Ra? Seriously? Are you sure we didn't make Leggo cities together and jam out to Paula Abdul with our moms hats and high heels? By the power of Skeletor!!!!!

Oh She-Ra and Rainbow Bright - two of my very favorites when I was a kid!! That Skeletor was so spooky!
I've never forget going to the Ice Capades as a kid with my best friend and her mom, and it was Masters of the Universe. Just as the crowd quiets, and the lights dim, my friend gets up on her chair with her She-Ra head band and yells into the crowd "by the power of Greyskull!!!"

lets just say, she never lived that one down lol

She-Ra, is had a big pink jewel in her sword - so cool!. The He-Man cartoon, My Little Pony and My Cabbage Patch Doll (Nina) - all that and NKOTB, Paula Abdul and Madonna = 80s to me :)
Plus the Royal Wedding, so of course we all wanted to be a Princess! xxx

Oh yes!! She-Ra I had her big pink castle, Oh and My Little Pony, and the fact that we had blissful sunshine all the way through the summer in the UK (sigh)

Oh, Umber. You are a gal after my own heart. When my little sister and I were young we would wrestle each other over who got to be She-Ra, and who would be relegated to playing as her sidekick, Glimmer. (Who in actuality, I now realize...was pretty bad ass with her purple hair...). Have you SEEN the He-Man/She-Ra Christmas special?! There aren't words...happy 500, lady!

I always miss those earrings. I'm going to have to set up some kind of alarm/screeching noise when you post something on Etsy!

Heh...
Did you ever see the Golden Girl and the Guardians of the Gemstones dolls? They took over the She-Ra castle I got for Christmas...Those dolls were awesome! I was always "Dragon Queen", always drawn to the villain characters...Hmmm, still am...Thanks for the trip...

Happy 500th Post!
