I Wish You Could Have Heard It

And by "it" I mean the crazed squeal I just let loose in the studio.  I'm pretty sure the neighbors heard.  I was digging around for something (I've since completely forgotten what, clearly it was of lesser importance) in few remaining unpacked boxes in the studio and found THESE.
And by "these" I mean a sack of beach pottery carefully culled and collected and packed for the move, then gone missing for months.
There are some serious treasures in here friends.  Like, if ancient pottery of this caliber was flung during Mardi Gras instead of beads, I might spend a lot of time in compromising outfits.  Needless to say, I've been hunched over my studio desk sorting and arranging for the better part of an hour, feeling a bit like Gollum with fingerless gloves and a cold cup of coffee.
"my pretties!  my precious!"

In other Sundayish news, there has been a bit of this and a bit of that: letter writing, trying to pass off a new mug as "this old thing" when BC asked (it didn't work - that man knows my addiction well), our first tentative sips of homemade kefir, and some G. Love on repeat, nice and loud.

Plus several hours spent carving a sheet of silver into magic.
Like a busy little bee
And while I know there is more to say, my fingers are twitching and itching to find the perfect bit of history to set in sterling.  Here's me, hoping your weekend has been restful and delicious!
To answer the call...

Mmmm pretty pottery. I was too slow last time and missed my chance for a ring... can't wait to try again! I also didn't realize what was missing from my FB feed until I saw your smiling face. Welcome back.

Amy Nicole - No! I'll never stop!

Cbump - Well HI back to you!

Sunny - These ones are OUR stash...

Foxy - Sigh. It never does work. But I tell you what does: the little corner-smile "who, me?" look that I quickly follow up with. He falls for it every time.

Lynsey - Well I can't wait to get started!

oooooooh I collect glass from the beach but we don't get so much wonderful pottery here. I have some bits but what do you Americans go to the beach and ritually break your old crockery?

UmberDove said...

Brit - see? I knew I wasn't alone in that. :)

Carrie - HA! Back in the day, the "wisdom" of Americans led them to burn their trash heaps and push them into the ocean. Despicable, BUT one hundred years later, it has yielded treasure. AND when I'm out collecting, I'm doing the earth a favor with my garbage pick up!

your sea pottery collection is lovely. where on earth do you find them all? here on the west coast of Canada i can only find glass. i can't wait to see what you will create with them.

Oh my goodness, I read "G.Love" and I just about fell off my chair! I actually saw G Love & Special Sauce live years ago; so good! I think I'll have to listen to some of his music now; thanks for the nostalgia!
also, giggling over your "my precious!" visual!

Ooo homemade kefir! Any recipe advice?? I've been wanted to bridge into the land of yogurt for awhile and I know you have some fantastic recipes you post here from time to time!

(Sadly I can't see your images at work, or I am sure I would be equally excited about the beach pottery!)
