Have I mentioned 2013 is fast approaching? Along with a host of thundering, flapping, leaping, floating, climbing, flying beasts?
No?
Well they are.
Welcome to the first sneak peek of the paintings for the 2013 UmberDove Calendar!
I'm hoping to have everything finished and back from the printers around the end of the month, but soon there will be calendars for all! The week before the calendars are available I'll offer up all twelve of these babies of mine, these original paintings (12'x12") on canvas. In the meantime, sneak peeks galore!

OH! AND P.S!
I haven't chosen months yet for these babies, and would love to hear your instinctual feelings!

my heart is DYING over these. and by dying i mean living. and by living i mean loving. so in essence, dying = loving. i know, it makes all sorts of sense. but seriously. these are BEAUTIFUL.
It all one big, beautiful, visceral mess over here. :)
Oh my. Oh my oh my.
Umber, you`ve painted a myth. I think the fox is March.
Gorgeous as always!
I don't know why, but the last one of the fox makes me think of September. That little peek of autumn colors and trees in the bottom right hand corner almost symbolizes the beginning of Autumn breaking through.
How's that for instinctual? Lol.
Lizzie Derksen. I love you. I can't even tell you how appropriate your words are to my rumbling dreams.
Cristen - Yes, yes!
The quail are definitely saying May, the owl says December and the fox says July
Oh yes, the barn owl says December to me too! Just beautiful, Kelly. Can't wait to see all 12. :)
I'm not sure about the rest, but the fox belongs to a July evening. Beautiful works!
June for the Owl! But that is probably due to the face June means deep darkening winter here in New Zealand... so maybe December instead?
i love me a fox, you know....doesn't matter WHICH month....
If the right words arrive in time, I try to make a point of saying them.
Oh Lady Love. Oh.

Yes, yes, yes!!! I loooveee
These are beyond beautiful. I do believe I caught my breath...the colors the radiance. The owl seems to be perfect for the summer solstice. Can't wait to see them all.
Oh Oh oh, that owl swooped right off the screen and to my heart. I think he could live on my shoulder? Yes.
Such lovely lovely glimpses..
I think the fox is September! (perhaps because that is my month!!).

Love love love that fox :) Am so glad you're doing another year-I so enjoy my calendar from you. Did I say I love the fox?
I agree with December for the owl. The fox I can see a mid summer eve kinda guy. Can't wait to see the rest!
love them all...love the colors...xx
I think I'm opposite of everyone, but I feel December for the fox. Very "Tomten and the Fox."

These are just so beautiful. The colors, and that fox! My gut feelings are that the owl belongs in January. They can represent change and I can't think of a more beautiful image to kick off a new year. The quail say March to me, especially with all the spring green. The fox reminds me of a late summer night, possibly August or September.
Ah, I'm LOVING this! KEEP IT COMING!
I think the quail belong to April or May.
These are so beautiful, save me a calendar!!
So beautiful- like everyone else, I can't wait to see the rest of the magic!
Clearly ...the owl is winter, probably January since that's my birth month!
...the quail are July- my anniversary month! and the moth makes me think of long summer nights.
...the fox is obviously trotting right into the fall months.
How is that for rational thinking?!
That definitely looks like a May Quail to me! UNLESS there's a leeping deer finding her way on one of your canvases! Keeping up with tradition, I'll once again be hanging a Dove calendar next year! Looks like you had FUN with these COLORS! Yeah!
Well now OF COURSE there is a deer! You know I couldn't paint a series without one!
WAIT! What in tarnation was I THINKING? By any chance, are you painting one of thoses CUTE wild horses??? Ohpleaseohpleaseohplease...xx
WELL. I am accumulating a gorgeous collection of postcards of wild mustangs from certain prairie girl, that are all taped up over my painting desk...
Roberto Foxilicious burst through the great green veil, leaving a gaping, ragged wound behind. He took flight; the heavy night pressed on his back and he thought he heard metal rain somewhere in the distance. He spoke in butterflies that crumbled into crispness underfoot. Turning, he saw the hole was now just a puddle and the butterflies were browned leaves that admonished his hastiness with coughing gasps.
I couldn't resist a small story. He's gorgeous! And definitely an autumn baby.
Mr barn owl swoops into January like a herald. And the lovers dance under a June night.
Just my thoughts. Can't wait for 2013 to ring in!
This painting of the owl will haunt me for ages! Beauty beyond word, indeed! You are amazing, woman!
TEA TROLL! Holy do I love your story! That's exactly it.
Petra - thank you beauty!
